It is one of the three major sub-centers along with Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, and is known as a town attracting young people.
As the station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line is located on the third floor of the station building, Shibuya Station where JR also stops is the landmark of the "Bit Valley" area, which means many slopes lead away from it, with streets emanating in a radial fashion.
There is a bronze statue of the faithful fido Chuken Hachiko in front of Shibuya Station, and there is the famous scramble intersection that many people are cross without colliding with each others.

When Shibuya Parco opened in 1973, there were many young people, and since then, it has become a popular place that has supplanted Shinjuku as "youth central" (especially the "Triangle Gai" area).
Surrounding Shibuya/adjacent thereto can be found the areas of Harajuku, Yoyogi, Jingu-mae, Daikanyama and Aoyama... the fashionable district is wide-ranging in Shibuya Ward.
