About Fire-Walking festival

It is an Aragyo (rigorous ascetic exercises) conducted once a year by Yamabushi (Shugenjin) of Oin, and prayers for world peace, long life and hopes for less disasters. Not only Yamabushi but also ordinary people can go through the fire. They can brave the fire with bare feet, and the audience who is watching is also imbued with good aura. It is popular among tourists from overseas and recommended for those who want to experience Japanese culture.
